I just stumbled across a very nice blog called Tutorial Blog.
Not only does it have lots of tutorials for photoshop, illustrator, typography, etc., but it also has some great links to things like a gallery of 30 great site designs - for inspiration, and a whole bunch of links to free font sites.
What's even better is that, in the process of installing the "Tutorial Blog" widget onto my blog, I found out that you can easily turn your blog into a Blogger widget so that others can have your recent posts, in a little widget box, on their site too.
The site is called WidgetBox. It can turn your blog instantly into something called a Bliget!
So - here's mine:

Want to know how many people visit your site?
Are you interested to know how may people visit your site? You can add a little counter to the bottom of your blog page and easily see how many people are visiting you and where they come from.
1. Go to Hit Counter
2. Set up an account and choose the style of counter you want (I prefer "stealth mode" myself!) & click okay.
3. Don't forget to store your account username and password, or you won't be able to find out what your stats are :-
4. Copy and paste the code in the box below.
5. Go into blogger, and click Template> Page Elements
6. Click Add a Page Element where you would like the counter to go (I chose in the footer area)
7. Choose HTML/Javascript as the new element.
8. You don't need to use a title, just paste the code from the counter site into the bottom box (the big one) and click okay.
8. Now view your blog! See? It's there!

Turning a Bitmap image into Vector for flash
The steps are easy to understand, and it gives you a very good overview of how to reduce vector points to keep the file small while giving you a stylish, edgy look to the photograph.

Japanese Colour Schemes
Different cultures have different concepts of colour and what goes well together. The Japanese name their colours after things in nature that have those colours. Kimonos very rarely contain colours not seen in nature, except for metalics.
Watashi to Tokyo has a great article on Japanese colour schemes and colour chips that are traditional.
From another Japanese website comes the "mother of all colour charts". It's called the Colour Scheme Encyclopedia and contains all sorts of colour charts sorted by everything from the most appropriate colour schemes for government offices!!!
Having Trouble Picking Colour Combos?
If you feel you can't trust your colour sense, there's a handy little online tool called "Colour Scheme Chooser".
It allows you to pick from all the standard colour schemes: complimentary, split, analogous, triadic, etc.
Even if you are good with colour. This can help give you some new ideas!

A Few of My Favourite Fonts
All designers have favorite fonts.Somehttp://www2.blogger.com/img/gl.link.gif of mine happen to be free, too. :-)
Take a look at one of my favorite font foundries who supply some of their nicest fonts for free. . The site is, unfortunately in Italian - but don't let that put you off - you know a sexy font when you see one and they say that the language of love is universal!
This is one of my very favorites in the collection. It's casual, modern, clean but not too formal.
Check out some other designers' favourite fonts at

If you are turning into a typography addict, but have been frustrated by the fact that your favourite font does have Vietnamese diacritics (dau), then you should take a look at Diacritics. At the moment, they only have Romanian and Czech members, so I bet they would love to meet someone from Vietnam who would be interested in developing a wider rage of diacritics
